Do you know the Wisdom of “self-Knowledge” - 2
Continuation to my previous post… Arjuna’s emotional turmoil was the preparation step to acquire the eligibility of the ultimate knowledge and Lord
Lord Krishna says to Arjuna,
“Self Ignorance is the cause of all human problems and attaining self-knowledge
is the only solution.”
Wise people do not grieve for the living one nor do they grieve for the
dead, you are grieving for those people who do not deserve any grieve because,
though they are your relatives they are not following Righteousness (Dharma). So
do not speak like a wise man
Lord Krishna emphasizes on to become wise by questioning yourself “Who am I”
Every individual consists of two components which are soul and body,
attaining self-knowledge is nothing but mastering the knowledge of “Soul”. But by
default, the individuals are in a perception of body, which is the cause of all
human emotions and leads to sorrow. Identifying the soul intrinsic to the body
is the solution.
“ To understand it better let us take an example of an Actor, An actor
plays different roles and it changes from movie to movie but the roles which
are played, is different from his real nature” likewise the soul existing in
every individual is intrinsic to the roles played, and attaining the capability
to recognize the soul is called the self-knowledge.
Lord Krishna further elaborates on the process to gain the capability to
recognize the soul intrinsic to the body is through disciplined training which in
the Sanskrit language is called Sadhana. Lord Krishna also helps in
understanding the nature of the soul.
Nature of the soul:
1.
Eternal –
Irrespective of age, place, sleeping, or waking, be in any state is always
constant.
2.
Truth – Has its
self-existence and self-evident
3.
Space – Always
present everywhere
4.
The soul is Based
on Subject of Experience
5.
The soul does not
do any actions, nor does bear any fruits
6.
It is Changeless
7.
Imperceptible – It
cannot be understood through senses.
Gaining this “self” knowledge is a great wonder. Because it is extremely
subtle to understand and is a Secret one.
Arjuna was worried about accumulating the bad deeds by killing his
teachers and well-wishers in a process to win the war, but Lord Krishna
clarifies that :
1.
From the philosophical
angle: you are killing the roles which are not following righteousness and
their souls are eternal, so there is no question of bad deeds.
2.
Ethical Angle: being
a worrier you have to fight for honor and it is righteousness and your soul
is free from this act, so there is no question of bad deeds.
3.
Practical Angle: Source
of evil is not in actions, but in passion and desires, the intentions behind
the action, since your actions are not evil nor do you have such intentions, so
there is no question of bad deeds.
What to do as a process of disciplined training, types of training will
be discussed in my next post …
