Why was Arjuna in "Despair"? - 1

Continuation to my previous post… where the armies of Pandavas and Kauravas reached the battleground with their supporter and the war equipment...

Arjuna, the third of the five brothers from the Pandavas group was the key warrior skilled in archer. The charioteer of Arjuna’s chariot was Lord Krishna himself.

Arjuna and Lord Krishna are also cousins and are very close to each other.

Arjuna asks Lord Krishna to place the chariot in between the two armies so that he can get the view of armies on both sides.

And looking at the army that he has to fight with, he forgets his status as a great worrier and starts thinking about the outcome of this battle but on the other side, Kauravas are eager to start the War on Pandavas without a second thought.

Arjuna could not treat his cousins as his enemies but in fact, he already entered the battlefield where Kauravas are armed with their weapons, and the waves of thoughts start flowing through Arjuna's mind getting into despair, and he questions his Guru, Lord Krishna who is driving his chariot in the battlefield as, whether is this war required?

What do I gain by killing my cousins, teachers, well-wishers who are on the opposite side?

Will I be happy in ruling a kingdom earned by bloodshed, so what to do?

Do I have any other Choice? How to handle this situation?

Lord Krishna's answers to Arjuna's question will be posted in my next post.
